Tribal Girls’ Hostel at Old Lambulane to reopen from June 2026

The Tribal Girls’ Hostel at Old Lambulane, Imphal, is set to reopen from June 2026 for the upcoming 2026-27 academic session, following an assurance by the Director of the Tribal Affairs and Hills Department, Government of Manipur.
According to a statement issued by the Tribal Youths Council Manipur (TYCM), Director of the department Rangnamei Rang Peter, IAS, assured the reopening during a meeting with the council held on March 26.
As part of the process to operationalise the hostel, the department issued a notification dated May 4, 2026, inviting Request for Proposal (RFP) for the operation and management of the Tribal Girls’ Hostel at Old Lambulane.
The TYCM stated that it has been persistently urging the Government of Manipur since August 2025 to resume the hostel facility in view of the difficulties faced by tribal girl students from various districts who are staying in rented accommodations in Imphal while pursuing their studies.
