Imphal, Nov. 24:

A huge sum of money amounting to multiple crores was sanctioned by the Ministry of Tribal Affairs and Hills, Government of India through The Directorate of Tribal Development and Hill Affairs, Government of Manipur for procuring Gayals or Mithun, where about Rs.50,000/- was marked for a beneficiary according to this scheme.
According to source the sanctioned amount should be deposited directly to the bank account of each beneficiary, however, some officials of the department distributed the money from their pocket at their will.
Source said that the amount was sanctioned during the tenure of Joshep Paolin Kamson, who was the then Director of TA & Hills and Joint Director, N.Kaikho Mao, of TA & Hills who is under suspension. After his suspension, DDO of the said department Rajendro Singh (Deputy Director)s instead of depositing the beneficiary’s money to their respective Bank account started distributing the amount in Cash, to beneficiaries of his choice. The DDO is releasing the funds as per his whims instead of distributing to each and every beneficiary, thereby violating the rights of the Tribal People and tarnishing the image of the Department.
