The Kumari’s Wood-Stalks School, Mongsangei is organizing a major trekking expedition to Annapurna Circuit in Nepal from April 2 till May 3, 2016, said S Surendra Chenglei, Principle of the school.
During a press meet held at Manipur Press Club, Chenglei said to the media persons that The Kumari’s Wood-Stalks School has been organizing many adventure activities since its inception in 2004 and it is the only school in NE India which has organizes major adventure activities for school students in different states. Likewise, this time a total number of 9 trekkers are taking part in the said expedition where 5 are students of 11 and 12 standard of the school itself and the rest 4 are adventure and survival experts and the team will be lead by Zenith Moirangthem (team captain)
Zenith Moirangthem said to the media persons that the main objectives for such adventure activities are to imbibe leadership qualities, to expose to survival situations, to enable to overcome challenges and privation, to inure to hardships, to develop the spirit of adventure, to instill the desire to attain success, to explore ones inner strength and spiritual aspects, to cultivate the essence of friendship and unity, etc. Such activities help students to develop their interpersonal and intra-personal dimensions and also harmonize the learning process of the students, he added.
Zenith also said that in terms of risk factors, it is not too much exaggerating to say that Annapurna Circuit is one of the most dangerous trekking routes in the world with its sudden rise and fall in altitude. The teams hope for a successful trekking expedition, he added.
The team will leave for Nepal on April 2 and trekking exhibition will begins at Besisahar or Bhulbhule in the Marshyngdi river valley from April 7.
This trekking expedition is the 5th Ultimate Challenge for its 7th season.
