Training Programme on Farmers’ right held

A one day Training-cum-awareness programme on “Farmer’s Right in the regime of PPV & FR Act 2001″ was organised at Oinam Village Senapati District on Jan.10, 2015. The event was inaugurated by Dr. J.M. Laishram, Dean College of Agriculture, Central Agricultural University Imphal. He called upon the farmers to register the traditional seed varieties and avail the benefits of PPV & FR Act 2001. Dr. M. Sumarjit Singh, Associate Professor, College of Agriculture Central Agricultural University Imphal was also present and highlighted the importance of farmers varieties in production and conservation on different areas.
The programme was presided by P. Devkanta, President of AMAPCON and attended by large number of local farmers. An exhibition of valuable crop species was also held.
On the 2nd day, Training Programme of Banana and Agave fibre extraction was also organised by women expert of the consortium. The programme was attended by more than 50 women participants of women society, Oinam.
