In a shocking incident that unfolded on the evening of December 18, 2023, at approximately 8:25 p.m., the tranquility of Leingangpokpi Police Out Post in Jiribam was shattered by the sound of a gunshot emanating from the Barrack of Juliet-80 of the CDO Unit. The incident has left the community in disbelief and sorrow.
Upon investigating the source of the gunshot, the Post Commander of Leingangpokpi CDO Post, identified as Rfn. No. 05106802 Loitam Arunta Singh (38 years) of 5th MR Khongjarol, Tamenglong, attached with CDO Unit, Thoubal, discovered a grim scene within the Juliet-80 Barrack. The lifeless body of an unknown person lay on the ground, surrounded by a pool of blood, suspected to be the result of gunshot injuries.
Further inquiry revealed that the unidentified deceased was allegedly shot dead by one Loitam Arunta Singh (Rfn. No. 05106802), who was armed with a service AK 47 rifle. The victim was later identified as Oinam Gandhi Singh (32 years), the son of O. Mohon Singh of Charangpat Bengi Mamang Leikai, Thoubal District, Manipur.
The incident has sent shockwaves through the community, raising questions about the circumstances leading to such a tragic event within the confines of the military barracks. As the news spreads, there is an outpouring of grief and demands for a thorough investigation to uncover the truth.
The Leingangpokpi Police Out Post has officially requested the initiation of necessary legal action against Rfn. No. 05106802 Loitam Arunta Singh, emphasizing the need for justice in this distressing situation.
