Imphal, May 2: A torch rally was taken out at Thoubal Athokpam yesterday seeking security personnels to restrain themselves from endangering the lives of innocent civilians through the wrong use of their service weapons under the influence of drugs.
The peace rally which was organised in association with clubs and other organizations in the general area of Thoubal Athokpam began from Athokpam Makha Leikai and after making a brief stoppage at the gate of Thoubal DC office moved towards the cremation ground of Kh Santosh who was shot by a police personnel at Ukhongsang on April 24. A memorial service was performed there and people lighted candles in remembrance of the deceased.
One of the participants of the peace rally said persons who carry guns and those who are eligible to carry them should honor the right to live of each individual. Such people should lose the tendency to shoot or threaten other by using guns, he added.
