Torch rally held at Langmeidong against killing of two children

A torch rally was held at Langmeidong on Saturday evening in protest against the killing of two children in a bomb attack at Tronglaobi on April 7 and the subsequent deaths of protestors in firing by CRPF personnel.
The rally was jointly organised by the Langmeidong United Club Organisation (LUCO), a conglomerate of seven local clubs, along with the Langmeidong Meira Paibi Apunba Lup.
Addressing the gathering, LUCO President Chongtham Manishwar called for immediate intervention by both the Central and State governments to halt what he described as repeated attacks in the valley by Kuki militants. He demanded that those responsible for the killing of the children and other innocent civilians be identified at the earliest and awarded stringent punishment.
Manishwar stated that such incidents, including attacks targeting infants and civilians, have occurred on multiple occasions. He urged both the state and central government to take decisive measures to bring an end to the violence and restore normalcy in the state.
During the rally, participants raised slogans such as “Stop Proxy War,” “No NRC, No Census,” and “Book the Culprits at the Earliest.” Homage was also paid to the deceased, with participants offering candlelight tributes before their photographs.
The procession commenced from Langmeidong Playground, passed along Burma Sugnu Road, reached Laimanai Lamkhai, and proceeded via Langmeidong Kakmayai before concluding at the starting point.
