TIM appeals for observance of ‘Manipur Peace Day’ on May 3

Thadou Inpi Manipur has appealed to all Thadou churches and community members to observe May 3, 2026 as a “Manipur Peace Day” to mark the third anniversary of the violence in the State.
In a statement, TIM urged churches to hold prayer vigils at convenient timings and offer prayers for peace, healing, unity and reconciliation across Manipur. The organisation said the observance should serve as a collective reaffirmation of harmony among all communities.
The appeal comes amid reports that certain groups are planning to mark the day as a “Separation Day.” TIM maintained that peaceful coexistence and unity among different ethnic communities remain fundamental and cannot be replaced by any form of division.
The organisation stated that since 2024, it has been observing the day as “Manipur Peace Day” in collaboration with TSA, drawing inspiration from global peace observances that highlight reconciliation and shared humanity.
TIM also reiterated a position drawn from the Thadou Convention Declaration 2024, stating that Thadou is a distinct ethnic group and not part of any other grouping, and that any misrepresentation of its identity is not acceptable.
