Three-day Barak Cultural Festival 2026 begins

3-day Barak Cultural Festival 2026 commenced today at the Barak Museum Complex in Bantarapur, Cachar district of Assam. The festival is being jointly organised by the Barak Museum and Library, Bantarapur, in coordination with the Department of Manipuri, Assam University, the Manipuri Dance Academy, Cachar, and the Manipuri Cultural Forum, Assam.
The opening day featured an international seminar on the theme “Status and Importance of Indian Classical Dance,” which drew participation from scholars, academicians, and cultural practitioners from different parts of India and abroad.
The seminar was attended by Dr Warda Rihab of Dhaka University, Bangladesh, Dr Santosh Kumar of Sikkim University, Gangtok, Yumnam Bhumeshwor of Assam University, and Dr Chandani Kasturi Arachechi, who participated as resource persons and shared their academic and professional insights on Indian classical dance traditions.
