Imphal, Jan 11:

Three (3) among the four (4) missing persons from Wangoo Terakhong Akasoi area in Kakching district were found dead at the foothills of Wangoo Sabal Meichakpi Hills foothills today morning.
Ahanthem Dara Meitei (56), Oinam Romen Meitei (45), Thoudam Ibomcha Meitei (53), and his son, Thoudam Anand Meitei (27) of Wangoo Terakhong Akasoi village, went missing after they went out to collect firewood from the nearby forest yesterday morning. While the dead bodies of three were found at the foothills Ahanthem Dara Meitei is yet to be found.
On January 10 afternoon suspected Kuki militants launched an attack on villagers in Kumbi Haotak area under Kumbi police station in Bishnupur district.
Report said that the suspected Kuki militants fired two bombs and rained bullets towards Meetei villagers working at paddy fields in Kumbi Haotak area. The villagers fled from the paddy fields while panicked villagers abandoned their houses and took shelter at safer locations.
The four villagers who went out to collect firewood did not return till late yesterday evening and a missing report was filed at the police station.
The missing men are identified as Oinam Romen, Ahanthem Dara, Thoudam Ibomcha, and Thoudam Anand.
All of them are from Akasoi Ward No 7 and they used to collect firewood from Meichakpi Hills every day.
