Another feather of illustrious effort to encourage and boost up young sports personalities, Thokchom Angamba, the Winner of MMA (Amateur) Pro-combat Fight League Event defeating Chandigarh opponent held at Kurukshetra recently organised by PCFL CLUB, Haryana has been feted by Oinam Romen Singh, the NPP. Candidate of Singjamei Assembly Constituency in the ensuing State General Assembly Elections 2022.
Encouraging the sports personality at his residence, Singjamei Oinam Thingel, Imphal, West District Manipur this afternoon organised by the National People’s Party (NPP), Singjamei Block and the National People’s Youth Front (NPYF) Singjamei Block, Romen Singh said that sports has been an integral part of the Manipuri society since the time immemorial. The Manipuris have a special talent in the field of games and sports. In order to cherish the talent, the youngsters should be groomed up from the grassroots level so as to compete in each and every sports discipline in different tournaments in the world.
Romen Singh said that there should be at least a sports discipline in the school curriculum and syllabus. The involvement of children in the field of games and sports can make themselves relax in their day to day’s activities and at the same time it can ease out the examination stress also. Sports education should be introduced in war footing in schools and colleges and other educational institutions for the all round development of the students as a whole so that it will help immensely in their lives ahead.
Romen Singh further said that he organised various sports tournaments as a part of encouragement of different sports personalities and also to groom up them from their grassroots level. Apart from organising different sports tournaments, special sports coaching camps had also been organised so that they can compete in various sports disciplines.
Romen Singh further said that the menace of drugs amongst the youngsters is a major cause of concern now a days. The drug menace can only be thrown away with sports. So the government should make a sports policy in order to pave a way for the younger generations and also to keep aside the drug menace forever from the soil of the State of Manipur.
He said that he will make a sports policy surely if he is voted to power in the ensuing State General Assembly Elections 2022. Without any sports policy, they cannot be groomed up so as to reach in the global arena, Romen Singh remarked.
