Imphal, Nov 25: Transport department of the Government of Manipur has introduced hired Winger vehicles for transportation of Sangai festival visitors instead of the low floor Buses procured under the JNRUM. Most of the JNRUM buses are now lying unused in the MSRTC campus and conditions of some are almost near to condemn.
Last year the state transport department utilised the buses for the Sangai festival visitors but for reason best known the Transport department authority , Winger vehicles are being hired to transport the Sangai festival visitors from different area of imphal city.
According to a Press statement of the department of transport 30 Winger vehicles will be introduced at different route for the local visitors to the festival. It said subject to the demand the number of vehicles may increase to 50.
Frequency of the vehicle service will be at every one hours . The service will be introduced from MU gate Canchipur to Andro Parking in Imphal East via Kakwa Singjamei, Moirangkhom, North AOC, Minuthong ; another From Hiyanthang keithel along MI road by passing MongsangeiKkeishamthong, Minuthong and then Andro Parking; From Malom keithel the vehicles come up to Andro parking along the Tiddim road towards Minuthong until it reaches Andro parking. There will also be service from Govt. Polytechnic , Shija Clinic and Langol Game Village.
