Imphal, Feb 19:
Government Offices in Churachandpur and Pherzawl districts experienced low attendance despite warnings from the state home department regarding the implementation of the “no work, no pay” policy for unauthorized absences.
The Indigenous Tribal Leaders Forum (ITLF) has urged government staff in the district to refrain from attending work starting Monday. This call comes in response to the suspension of a policeman allegedly seen with armed individuals in a video. While markets, schools, and private sector establishments operated as usual, government offices were affected by the ITLF’s call for protest.
The ITLF demands the reinstatement of suspended head constable Siamlalpaul and the immediate replacement of Superintendent of Police Shivanand Surve and Deputy Commissioner Dharun Kumar. They have warned government employees that they will bear responsibility for any untoward incidents if they choose to attend work.
Head constable Siamlalpaul was suspended after a video surfaced showing him with armed individuals and village volunteers. The home department had previously issued an order stating that the “no work-no pay” policy would be enforced against employees who do not attend their official duties without authorized leave.
