With election days running round the corner, xenophobic personalities of self styles leaders started springing up. Thirst for power has left with no choice to the so called self style social workers to pour their accumulated wealth which they looted from the public. As those money are not hard earned, it is being spent in easy manner to spoil the common men and women. With just 6 month away every evening now is a grand occasion for the voters. Drinks, meals and small time get together meet for small groups every evening is notice at almost all constituency. But real issues is not a matter, it is all about how to topple the rival candidates no matter how good is the candidate being supported. Threats to the unity among the various communities of the state, the rampant corruption, failure in maintaining law and order, the rotten educations at primary level, etc., are no more effective tools for candidates contesting the election. Good and qualified candidate is measured by the quantity of wealth and bank balance he or she have. No matter where he or she collected the wealth. The kind of happenings, doing around with the coming of the election, is not everybody’s desires. But those who voiced against it are treated as outdated fellows which cannot go along with the society. This is not the first time. The kind of happening is witnessed almost every election times, particularly in the state of Manipur. Some politically sensitive individuals had tried to bring about a change but had failed. Some are still trying even today but except for them there is nobody to listen to them. Election now is not for bringing a better government but it is all about enjoyment, – a festival that comes every 5 years. No wonder what makes our Iron Lady decided to join this spoil game. What makes her believed that she can bring change by taking the risk is a matter which we in the Imphal Times had questioned time and again. The sanctity of democracy is being ruined by the people yet we keep on blaming for others. It is now by the people but not for the people or of the people. Let’s stop blaming others, let’s start changing from our self, let’s now wait for no goddot to bring a change, let’s do it by ourselves, let’s make democracy a more meaningful one.

Vigilantes without proper and rightful mandate of common masses, bandhs, blockade, so-called amateur leaders, who went out of their cocoons cant even opine tangible and purposeful impromptu opinions, “mangol jaos” better narrated the dire state of our society today, Lack of tolerance among ourselves, “I am the boss, I dnt’ care” attitude, all these bring forth the unwanted problems we are facing today. We are to be blamed for whatz happening around us.
