Thadou Inpi Manipur observed its 42nd Foundation Day on March 1 through a virtual programme attended by leaders, elders, youth and well-wishers.
The occasion marked the historic founding of the organisation on March 1, 1984 as the Thadou National Council, Manipur under the leadership of its Founding President, Pu SH Seipu. Over the years, the body underwent several transformations, becoming the Thadou Tribe Council in 1992, later renamed Thadou Inpi in 2015, and subsequently reconstituted as Thadou Inpi Manipur in 2024.
A solemn tribute was paid to former leaders and founding members in recognition of their vision, sacrifices and dedication towards safeguarding the unity and distinct identity of the Thadou people. A moment of silence was observed in memory of the departed pioneers.
In his address, President M. James Thadou reaffirmed the organisation’s commitment to protecting the distinct identity of the Thadou community, promoting the Thadou language and culture, and strengthening unity and organisational discipline. He stated that the 42nd Foundation Day signified a renewed pledge towards collective progress and welfare.
Founding President Pu SH Seipu reflected on the circumstances and aspirations that led to the formation of the organisation in 1984 and called upon the present leadership and youth to uphold its founding ideals with unity and responsibility.
The programme concluded with a collective resolve to continue efforts for the dignity, unity and advancement of the Thadou community.
