President of the BJP Manipur Pradesh Th. Chaoba today said that he had filed defamation suit against Statesment correspondent Yambem Laba and Hueiyen Lanpao daily for publishing defamatory statement against him. In a press conference held today at his party head office at Nityapat Chuthek, Th. Chaoba said that the news report at which he was alleged of accepting rupees 1 crore from the wife of former RIMS Director Dr. Sekharjit was baseless and for that he had filed defamation suit the law court demanding compensation. The BJP Manipur Pradesh President however, did not mention the name of the court at which the defamation suit was filed.Earlier too, Th Chaoba had made the same statement about the filing of the defamation suit however, it turn out to be a mere threat as no case was file in any of the court.In today’s press conference Th. Chaoba said that the two respondents Y Laba and Hueiyen Lanpao will get notification from the court in the coming few days. He said he will respect the verdict of the court.On Hiyanglam by election, Th Chaoba expressed his hope of winning the sit by BJP candidate Maibam Dhanabir saying that people are sour of the congress party rule for around 15 years.Th. Chaoba further said that the misappropriation of central funds by the Okram Ibobi led congress government and the various forms of corruption which went unchecked has been apprised to the Center and soon the Central government will initiate action.He also criticise the state government o not providing space for establishment of Film and TV Institute in the state.
