State BJP president Thounaojam Chaoba today said that he had filed legal suit against Imphal based daily newspaper Hueiyen Lanpao and Statesman daily correspondent Yambem Laba for defaming his name. In a press conference held today at its party office at Nityapat Chuthek in connection with the reception function of 5 newly enrolled members, Th. Chaoba said that legal notice has been sent to the media house and the journalist and the hearing will start from November 20. The defamation case has been filed against the Imphal based newspaper and journalists Yambem Laba for reporting him of taking bribe from the wife of the former director of RIMS, Prof. Damyanti.The five newly enrolled members of the BJP area Ph. Phakchao Singh, ex- candidate of CPI, Lamshang A/C, Meisnam Mangi Singh, Pradhan, Potsangbam GP, Okram Ibungobi Singh, Ward member Awang Wabagai, Potsangbam GP, Kh. Dhiren Singh, Ward member, Potsangbam GP and M. (o) Purnima Devi, Ward member Potsangbam GP.In the press conference, Th. Chaoba further said that the party’s target for enrolment of new members by March 2015 is One Lakh. There should be 50 members in each polling station out of which five must be active members. He added that the party will start organising conference for four to five polling booths and also various works for hill district council will be initiated. Chaoba further added that the aim of the party is to wipe out corruption from the state and to expose the system of corruption which is being practised by the current government.The ex- candidate of CPI party, Ph. Phakchao said that the ideology of CPI party is very good but in the current national political scenario the position of CPI is fading. Hence he joined BJP party said Phakchao.
