Imphal, Jan 20:
The situation at the Kamjong-Myanmar border check post has grown tense as the Kuki National Army (KNA B) remains stationed in the area, despite opposition from the NSCN(IM) group, which is attempting to assert control over the region. A highly placed reliable source said that recently, a confrontation took place between the two groups, though it has not escalated further. Authorities have urged the public to remain cautious and avoid spreading rumors or inciting panic.
The reports indicate that KNA B has faced significant casualties, losing 40 members in Kachin State amid ongoing clashes. The Kachin people find themselves trapped between intense fighting, with KNA B at the forefront of the conflict. Helicopters and fighter jets have been frequently deployed, with KNA B being a key target. The National Socialist Council of Nagaland (NSCN-IM) and the United National Liberation Front (UNLF) are also reported to be involved in the ongoing conflict, the source said.
The source added that in Kachin State, around 80 military camps are operating, two of which were recently destroyed in skirmishes. The fighting continues to intensify, especially around Tamu, where KIA, KNA B, and People’s Defense Force (PDF) forces are engaged in ongoing resistance efforts.
Another source added that in Burma, the revolution remains ongoing, but internal divisions have emerged. Recently, some Zomi leaders initiated negotiations with the military Junta, sparking debates about the potential renaming of Chin State to Zomi State. This move has led to tensions within the Chin community, further complicating the situation.
He source further said that, several significant locations have been destroyed, including Shan Army camps, and Aungchia Military outposts, as well as a police station. At the same time, KNA B continues to operate strategically at the Kamjong-Myanmar border check post.
The Indian Army is closely monitoring the situation, particularly in the Upper Sagaing area, while there are indications that neighboring forces may escalate their operations. Authorities continue to emphasize the need for vigilance as the situation remains fluid and unpredictable.
