Imphal, Aug 30: Tension runs high among supporter of sitting MLA Paonam Brojen and supporters of former MLA M. Hemanta, who is also the spokesperson of BJP Manipur Pradesh after a function organized to inaugurate a play field at Tentha was disrupted by supporters of former MLA M. Hemanta late yesterday evening.
According to report, large number of people probably supporters of M Hemanta yesterday disrupted a function organized at Tentha Mathak Konjin Leikai for handing over of a play ground constructed by Paonam Family by MLA P Brojen. The supporters also reportedly burned around 20 chairs, a Samiyana besides assaulting of two persons who allegedly possessed license gun.
The two persons assaulted yesterday evening have been identified as Paonam Khelen (age 61) and Paonam Thambou (age 47) both residence of Wangjing Wangkhei.
Following the disruption of the inauguration of the play ground and the assault of two persons from Wangjing area, large number of people from Wangjing and Keirembikhok today staged a protest rally at Wangjing area. The rally was organized by the Wangjing Tenths Kendra Development Committee. The rally demanded punishment of those culprits involved to the assault of the two persons from Wangjing area.
