Rally against non-implementation of NFSA staged

Imphal, Aug, 30: Locals including members of Imphal West District Council, Imphal City District Council Communist Party of India and Imphal West District Council along with All Manipur Nupi Marup carried out a protest rally from Takyel Community Hall to DC, Imphal West against the none fulfillment of National Food Security Act-2013 (NFSA) and non issuance of ration card to each household of Imphal West District Council areas.
The protestors also submitted a memorandum to the Deputy Commissioner of Imphal West District, Manipur urging the issue of ration card of the National Food Security Act-2013, distribution of rice every month as per norms of the Act and to impose strict instruction to the respective fair price shop people to sell the rice weighing in kilogram and check the excessive interference of local MLAs in the matter.
S Yaima Singh, Secretary of Imphal City District Council Communist Party of India said to the media persons that it has been five months now since the formal launching of the NFSA in the state by Chief Minister but the pro-people scheme is being implemented in the namesake only. The effective implementation is reportedly not done in every Assembly Segment of the Imphal West District, he added.
