Jiribam, Nov 14:
A tense situation has arisen at Silchar Medical College following the post-mortem examination of the bodies of ten Kuki youths who were killed by CRPF gunfire at Borobekra Sub-Division of Jiribam District on November 11. Kuki-Zo people from the Cachar region have surrounded the morgue in protest. They also accused the Manipur police of threatening them with firearms at Silchar Medical College, which sound like serious allegations over Manipur Police.
The bodies of the ten Kuki youths, killed in Jiribam, were brought to Silchar Medical College for post-mortem examination.
While the post-mortem of six bodies was completed, the examination of the remaining four has not yet taken place, even after 24 hours. This has led to a heated situation in front of the morgue, where Kuki-Zo individuals from various parts of Cachar have gathered. They are chanting slogans against the Manipur police and demanding action, stating that the post-mortem of the four deceased Kuki youths should be conducted immediately.
The protesting Kuki-Zo people have warned that if the post-mortems are not carried out soon, they will forcibly take the bodies from the medical college. In response to the situation, a large contingent of Cachar police has arrived at Silchar Medical College.
