Tension erupts at Temporary Market shed as street vendors’ issue remain unresolved

Tension erupted at temporary market shed at Khwairambandh Keithel here in Imphal after a group of street vendors thronged in at the market shed and demanded their space. Those group already occupied at the temporary market shed refused to leave and heated argument occurred between the two group.
The street vendors belonging to “Khwairambandh Keithel Street Vendors’ Welfare Union” who thronged to the Temporary market shed that as per the government order the space should be shared among the street vendors on rotation basis.
Earlier, the members of the street vendors’ Union went to the IMC office and protested to the IMC demanding space in the newly constructed temporary market shed.
Talking to media, president of the Union said that they are recognized and registered Union. She said that they too have been surviving by selling goods at street. She appealed the authority to do justice.
