Tension erupted at Lilong Chajing area in Imphal west district at NH-102 near Chanchipur area after a large number of womenfolk demanding the burning of heroin drugs seized by a police team today morning.
Report said that a large number of women folks came out to the NH-102 at Lilong Chajing and Canchipur area in Imphal West district following a report of heroin seizure by a police team from the truck. The heroin No. 4 drugs weighing 1.970 Kg were packed in 50 soap cases and hidden carefully at the ceiling of the left side of the driver’s seat.
Following report about the seizure of heroin drugs, a large number of women gathered and demanded to burnt the drug seized by the police. However, the police team led by Additional SP of Imphal West managed to take the seized drug under heavy security cover. Later, the women folk again tried to burn the truck transporting the drugs which came from Lilong side. The police personnel present on the scene fired several rounds of tear gas shells and mock bombs to disperse the crowd and finally managed to take the truck into their custody.
The driver of the truck has also been arrested.
