Teachers’ commemoration ceremony held at Wabagai

A Teachers’ Commemoration Ceremony organised by the matric-batch alumni of Wabagai Higher Secondary School from the 1976, 1978, 1985, 1992 and 1994 batches was held today at the school’s Recreation Hall.

Dr. E. Iboyaima, Associate Professor of Economics at Manipur College, attended as chief guest, while H. Jayentakumar, Head of the Department of Mathematics, DM College of Science, presided over the function. Dr. M. Modhumangol, former Head of the ENT Department, RIMS, was the distinguished guest.

Speaking at the programme, alumni representative Maibam Mohedro expressed concern over what he described as the declining bond between teachers and students and the growing instances of disrespect towards teachers. He called for collective efforts to restore the dignity and respect accorded to teachers.

He also stressed the need for teachers and former students to maintain mutual respect and uphold the values associated with the teaching profession.

As part of the ceremony, the alumni felicitated teachers associated with the school and paid tribute to deceased teachers by displaying their photographs and observing two minutes of silence in their memory.
