The Tangkhul Naga Long (TNL) has called a 24-hour emergency total shutdown within its jurisdiction from 7 am today to 7 am on September 26, protesting the killing of four civilians.
In an emergency notice, TNL Secretary Thanreingam Muivah said the shutdown was called against the killings, which the organisation alleged were carried out by cadres of the Kuki National Army-Burma (KNA-B) and other armed groups. The allegation has not been independently verified.
The TNL said essential services, including power, medical and fire services, would remain exempted from the shutdown. Movement related to funerals and condolence services would also be allowed.
The organisation urged people within its jurisdiction to observe the shutdown during the 24-hour period, citing the need to register strong public protest over the killings.
