The Tangkhul Leisak Long (TLL) 25-year Silver Jubilee celebration was held at the jam-packed Town Hall, Phungreitang, Ukhrul here today.
UNDER the theme, “ Our. Economy, the Backbone of our Community “ Qr. Khashim Vashum, Minister of Veterinary and Animal Husbandry and Transport was the chief guest, and Qr.Ram Muivah, Ukhrul MLA was the guest of honour during the celebration program.
The TLL silver Jubilee celebration Flag was hoisted by Minister Khashim Vashum and the memorial stone was unveiled by MLA Ram Muivah.
Ukhrul MLA Ram in his speech stated that the Tangkhul community has been involved in acquaintance with many professions and varied platforms but at present there is not many successful entrepreneur so this is exactly one of the paramount area that requires special attention as the backbone of the any given society is its economy, Ram exhorted.
The MLA further suggests renaming Tangkhul Leisak Long(TLL) as Chamber of Commerce.
Qr. Khashim Vashum said that before he joined politics he was a businessman/ entrepreneur where he work hard from dawn till dusk finally God blessed him with his earnest endeavour and till today he has the zeal to promote any type of business, especially local markets.
First contract at an amount of Rs.5861/- on his hand and with the blessing of God he attained the name special contractor in his later life before he finally joined politics. The Minister also expressed his desire and support for the suggestion made by Ram Muivah to rename TLL to that of the Chamber of Commerce which will be more feasible in today’s generation, he asserted.
The event was organised by TLL in collaboration with Zaoranao Sin Shim / Ava Market, Ukhrul.
