Tml. Aug 26:
With the fine weather back in Tamenglong, the people of Tamenglong has ventured out into the streets with their mask and social distancing SOP to buy and sell, and going about their other business. The street is quite busy again. The vegetable market is now opened where customers are coming back as almost like in the normal days.
With no report of new cases of local transmission of COVID 19, the people are feeling more secured. Also in the last few days there was no report of positive cases from Tamenglong. The total positive cases as reported on Tuesday were 280. The number of people recovered is 248, and active cases stand at 32. There is no related death in the district.
The NFSA and PMGKY Scheme have ensured that people do not go hungry. Every household in the district has enough food to eat.
Religious and other mass gatherings are still banned. Schools and institutions are delivering their online lessons. Here, the major complain of the students and their parents are that the internet speed is too bad in the district. They cannot download the lesson in videos to listen and to do the assignment, and then submitting it again during the ‘opened’ hours of class in the whatsApp group. Still there are thousands of students who are unable to attend such online classes.
All the Quarantine Centres are functioning well at the district. The business people, especially the vegetable vendor women said that they wanted more of relaxation. That 8 am to 2 pm is too short for them to bring their goods, arrange them and to sell them only to pack them up again very soon. These women are mulling over requesting the District Administration to extend the relaxation hours.
