Tamenglong District Level Chavang Kut Celebrated at Phaitol

‘Chavang-Kut’, the autumn post harvest festival  is celebrated with great enthusiasm by the Kuki, Chin and Mizo tribes at Phaitol village of Tousem Sub-Division of Tamenglong District.
The event organized by the District Level Kut Committee Phaitol Tamenglong District which held at Phaitol public ground. 
The celebration was began with thanksgiving prayer offered by Pastor Rohmingthanga (UPCM), which shows gratitude to the almighty for a bountiful harvest with an offering of songs and dances. Followed by welcome address delivered by Pu. Benjamin Shakum, Vice Chairman, Kut Committee.
The programme of the festival is graced by Awangbou Newmai, Minister Water, Relief & Disaster Department, Government of Manipur as a Chief Guest while Smt. Hatlhing Doungel, Former EM ADC Tamenglong as a functional President and L. Lhingneikim Mate, Asst. Labour Commissioner, Government of India  as a guest of honour and the programme was graced by Khaidoukhup Ngaihte as a Kutpa.
Celebrated annually in November, Chavang-Kut brings the people together to ensure peace, harmony and love in the beautiful state. Besides Kukis, Chins and Mizo tribes, other tribes and communities  also participate in the festival to make it an occasion of peace and unity in the state.
On the speech of daises, they have briefed about the significance of kut festival which was celebrated by the Kuki, Chin and Mizo tribes. 
On the Presidential speech Hatlhing Doungel extended her gratitude to all for making the programme grand successful.
On the speech of Chief Guest Awangbou Newmei, Minister Water, Relief & Disaster Department, Government of Manipur said  we are celebrating the kut festival as a harvesting festival which gives refreshing in our Life.
He added, the present government brings much progress in the field of peace and prosperity among the different communities of Manipur. “We need to develop together for the development of the State”, he added.
He also conveyed his best wishes for the programme as well as presented gifts to the village chiefs and elders.
One of the main attractions of the festival is the cultural dance performed by the troops of various localities of Jiribam and Phaitol areas during the celebration.
