Tangkhul Aze Katamnao Long (TAKL) has expressed concern over the presence of Naga people along Manipur’s border areas and urged the Centre and the state government to take measures to protect them from threats and ensure their security.
Speaking at a press conference held at the Manipur Press Club today, TAKL president Yarchuiso Kashung said Naga-inhabited areas along the Manipur border were facing a situation in which people could potentially seek support from neighbouring countries, including China, amid the prevailing insecurity.
Kashung also criticised Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand over his handling of the situation in Manipur, alleging that the state was being further destabilised under his administration.
He said that if the Chief Minister was unable to protect the state and its people, he should resign voluntarily.
Kashung further criticised the Chief Minister’s visits to different places, alleging that such visits had failed to address the concerns of the affected population and that innocent people continued to suffer.
He also questioned the government’s approach to the ongoing crisis, calling for concrete measures to restore security and prevent further deterioration of the situation.
