Surrendered PREPAK -VC chairman & driver shot dead inside 7th MR complex

Imphal, June 22: Two surrendered militants including former Chairman of proscribed group PREPAK -VC, Ningombam Nabachandra aka Nongdrenkhomba were shot dead inside the 7th MR Complex at Khabeisoi at around 8.30 pm yesterday. The other person found murdered is identified as Leisangthem Sanjit Singh aka Chingkhei, aged 41 Yrs, son of L. Lalsing Singh of Thangmeiband Hijam Dewan Leikai.
Ningombam Nabachandra aka Nongdrenkhomba aged about 57 Yrs, son of N. Iboyaima Singh of Thangmeiband Lourung Purel leikai in Imphal who had reportedly joined the proscribed group PREPAK some 30 years back surrendered to the government on December 15, 2014 in a grand ceremony held at 1st MR Banquet Hall in the presence of Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh.
According to report, the two might have been shot dead when the security personnel and their family were enjoying Lai Haraoba festival which is being celebrated inside the battalion complex.
“No one was aware of the incident as there was festival going on, we came to know about it only after the wife of the deceased reported about it today morning”, a security personnel who does not want to be identified said to reporters.
As according to him the wife of the deceased called him through cell phone at around 8.30 am today. As he didn’t picked up the call she came to enquire only to find him shot to dead near his bed in his room. The LPG gas cylinder was also found left on.
Nongdrenkhomba along with Chingkhei has been taking refuge inside the  7th MR complex since the time they surrendered to the government.
