Surgeon Rear Admiral Anupam Kapur takes over as CO, INHS Asvini

In an impressive ceremony, Surgeon Rear Admiral Anupam Kapur, took over command of the INHS Asvini, the premier super specialty Command Hospital of the Indian Navy located in South Mumbai, from Surgeon Rear Admiral Arti Sarin, on Friday.
An alumnus of the prestigious Armed Forces Medical College, Pune, Admiral Kapur is a specialist in obstetrics and gynaecology and has super-specialised in laparoscopic and endoscopic gynaecological surgery. Prior to his current assignment, he served as a gynaecologist at INHS Asvini and Army Hospital R&R, and was Commanding Officer INHS Sanjivani, Kochi.
Admiral Arti Sarin, on relinquishing the command, will assume duties of Command Medical Officer, Western Naval Command, Mumbai. She is an alumnus of Timpany School Visakhapatnam and graduated from the prestigious Armed Forces Medical College, Pune. She was commissioned into the Armed Forces Medical Services in Dec 1985. She has the distinction of having completed two post graduate degrees – MD in Radiology at AFMC Pune and in DNB Radiation Oncology from the Tata Memorial Hospital, Mumbai. In addition she has trained in Gamma Knife Surgery at the University of Pittsburgh, USA.
In a long naval career she did tenures at Naval Science & Technology Limited Visakhapatnam, and served in the naval hospitals at Port Blair, Visakhapatnam, Kochi and Mumbai. She also served as Prof & HOD Radiation Oncology at Army Hospital Research and Referral,Delhi, Command Hospital/ AFMC, Pune and INHS Asvini. She is an examiner for the National Board of Examination in Radiotherapy and is a recognised teacher and examiner at various universities.  She has several medical publications to her credit in peer reviewed journals. In the administrative cadre she served as Senior Registrar (Medial Superintendent) at INHS Asvini, and Principal Medical Officer Naval Dockyard, Mumbai.
