The 12th State-Level Spelling Competition organised by the Students’ Union Kangleipak (SUK) began today with the singing of the State song, “Sana Leibak Manipur”.
Speaking on the occasion, SUK State-Level Spelling Competition Sub-Committee Convenor Ranjit Khuman said the competition is being conducted this year in two categories. Students from Classes V to VII are placed in Category A, while those from Classes VIII to X are placed in Category B.
The competition is being held at three centers—Manipur University for the Imphal centre, Slopeland Public School for the Thoubal and Kakching centers, and Ningthoukhong Higher Secondary School for the Bishnupur center.
Around 3,000 students are participating in this year’s competition, he said.
Ranjit Khuman said the main objective of organising the spelling competition is to identify and provide a platform for students to showcase their hidden talents.
The final round of the competition will be held on October 17.
