Students rally for Wildlife Conservation in celebration of 70th Wildlife Week 2024

Hundreds of students converged today for a rally, celebrating the 70th Wildlife Week Celebration 2024 organized by the Wildlife Wing of the Forest Department of the Government of Manipur in collaboration with the Central Forest Division. The event aimed to foster awareness about wildlife conservation and advocate for eco-friendly practices, emphasizing the importance of safeguarding the nation’s natural heritage.
Students from various educational institutions throughout Imphal participated, brandishing banners and chanting slogans that echoed their commitment to wildlife protection. The creative posters crafted by the students showcased endangered species and conveyed messages highlighting the critical need for conservation efforts.
The event was inaugurated by Soreiphy Vashum, Additional Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (PCCF) for the Government of Manipur, who delivered an address, urging students to become proactive torchbearers for conservation initiatives. Joykumar, Chief Conservator of Forests (Wildlife), also spoke at the event, emphasizing the crucial role of wildlife in our ecosystem and the collective responsibility to protect these invaluable resources. He encouraged the students to actively engage in wildlife conservation efforts, fostering a sense of stewardship towards the environment.
Also, a rally was organized by the Senapati Forest Division flagged off by Sangam S, IFS, DFO/Senapati from Senapati Traffic Point and concluded at DRDA Entrance Gate. Despite the rain in the morning, more than 600 students from different government and private schools bravely participated in the rally.
The Tamenglong Forest Division also organized a rally at the District HQ. Kh. Hitler Singh MFS/DFO Tamenglong flagged off the rally at Jadonagng Memorial Park & concluded at the Apollo Ground. About 200 students and youths participated in the rally
Waikhom Romabai MFS, DFO/Bishnupur flagged off a rally from the Division office and concluded at Loukoipat. More than 100 students from different Schools in the District participated in the rally.
