Students of Kamu Ching Junior High School in dire straits

Fate of the students of Kamu Ching Govt. Junior High School which is located about 35 Km from Imphal, under Kangpokpi district in Saikul Assembly constituency is in dire striate as teachers fails to attend the school regularly.
The School have 132 students from the surrounding villages. 7 teachers have been allotted to this school but when a team of Socialist Students’ Union Manipur (SSUM) along with a media team found only 2 teachers attending the school today.
The SSUM and media team were surprise to find one teacher teaching combined students of class IV and V while students of other classes were seen playing inside the class room. And the Head Master of the School L. Rajen was found in his office room.
Even as no teachers were found attending the school today, the students’ body found all the seven teachers signed in the attendance register.
Students of the schools which have class 1 to class VIII are mostly from 4 villages which were affected by the Mapithel dam. Parents of almost all the students are hand to mouth earner, they live on daily wages.
The negligence of the teachers, is likely to affect the career of the students.
Co-convenor of the SSUM , S. Yaima while, speaking to media persons said that the Govt. School which was in verge of extinction was admitted by students of the 4 villages last year reaching the number to 132. The differences in the Students teachers ratio is likely to affect the academic curriculum. He drew the attention of the Education Minister to the present condition of the school.
SSUM had arrange a bus service in the area for the transportation of the students of the Mapithel affected villages.
