Imphal, July 24: Intensifying the agitation for implementation of ILP System in the state, students of DM College today took out an agitation and clashed with Police personnel. The incident took place when the students of the college tried to storm the Assembly session demanding implementation of ILP System from three different sides. Police prevented the students and tried to negotiate which led to a quarrel between the two parties. The students started pelting stones on police from inside the College campus. Following the stone attack police fired tear gas shells and rubber bullets inside the campus even where classes were going on when the incident took place. Police Lathi charged indiscriminately on the students present at the agitation. Later, they picked up more than 30 students involved in the agitation from various places. Many students of the college got injured including a girl student who got fractured while running and later was taken to hospital in a Police van. Even the students who have hidden themselves to escape the police onslaught were not spared as police personnel dragged them out of their hiding places. The agitating students, in retaliation, demolished an Armoured Police vehicle in front of the College.

On the other hand, students of St. Peter and Pitambara School stormed the residence of MLA, RK Anand at Kwakeithel Laishram Leirak. Another group of students belonging to Little Rose School, Standard Robert and other schools stormed near the MU gate while students from various schools of Lilong area blocked National highway No. 2 with the police having to resort to firing tear gas shells on the agitating students to disperse them.
