Students Gherao Education (S) office

Imphal, Oct 4: Students of Wangoo Higher Secondary School in Thoubal District today Gherao the office of Education (S) at Lamphel at around noon today demanding filling up of vacant teachers. The students of the school had submitted memorandums to fill up the vacant teachers to concern government officials time and again. However, instead of sending teachers, the school education department had transferred some of the teachers from the school amid the demand.
Report said that students of the school came in a bus and all of a sudden Gherao the office of Education (S) at around noon. The student shouted slogans demanding teachers. Police team which arrived at the scene put the situation under control by allowing three representatives of the students to meet the director. As the director was not present in the office, an authority of the Directorate talked with the students and assured to send teachers by October 6. Following the assurance the students return back but threaten serious form of agitation if the authority fails to keep their word.
Talking to reporters a student representative said that they will wait till October 6 and if authorities fail to keep their words they will launch serious form of agitation.
