A day after Imphal was once more rocked with a series of agitations by students and CSOs against the alleged abduction of two students reading class X, students of Don Bosco High School, Langjing, the school where both the students are studying, staged a sit-in protest today
The two missing students identified as 16-year-old Maibam Avinash and 19-year-old Ningthoujam Anthony had gone towards the Sekmai area in Imphal West district on a two-wheeler on Sunday morning to attend a function before they went missing.
As the students didn’t return home, family members tried calling them up several times but received no response. A tense situation has erupted in the state following the missing of the two school students.
A probe has been launched into the incident even as the student community continues to protest. Police recovered their Cell phone from a petrol pump located at Senapati district headquarters.
Meanwhile, an Armed group, the Kuki National Front (KNF) currently engaging in Suspension of Operation with the government, has clarified that their organization is not involved either directly or indirectly in the disappearance of the two teenage students.
A statement by LH Stephen, Information and Publicity Secretary, KNF said, “Any blame or targeted accusation made against the KNF regarding the missing two Meitei boys is uncalled for and baseless”.
KNF is an armed organization that had no conflict with the central forces and has been claiming to follow the constitution of India. The organization is one among the SoO group that advocates a ‘Separate State’ inside Manipur.
