Imphal, Apr 29:

Four student bodies of the state have decried the transfer of two teachers from schools in the Jiribam district and drew the attention of the Education Minister in this regard.
A joint statement by Manipur Students Federation (MSF), Democratic Students’ Association of Manipur (DESAM), Kangleipak Students Association (KSA) and another major students body said that, at a time when the student bodies of the Jiribam district were appreciating the government of Manipur for sending 2 teachers in schools of the district by an order dated April 24, all of a sudden one arts graduate teacher identified as Laishram Banita Devi from Jiribam Higher Secondary School and one Science teacher, Pukhrambam Paikhombajeet Meitei of Sorok Atingbi High School were transferred to other schools by an order of the Directorate of Education (S) dated April 27.
A statement by the four students’ body questioned the rationale behind the transfer of the two teachers from schools in Jiribam district when there are more teachers required in the district.
Further, the four students’ body urged the government of Manipur to revoke the transfer orders of the two teachers from Jiribam district and sent more teachers to fill up the vacancies at the schools in Jiribam district.
