State Medical Dept. Gear up to fight rabies cases in Churachandpur district

LAMKA, Jan 15: More than 10 persons died due to dog-bite incidents in Churachandour district, and at least 263 cases have been registered in
in Churachandpur district hospital till date. A team led by the director, Manipur State Health Department Dr. O Ibomcha Singh brought 300 rabies vaccines and handed over to the district Immunization Office. The director, Manipur state Health Department Dr O Ibomcha Singh urged the district medical department to open dog-bite cell at the earliest  and provide the medicines should be free of cost, and directed all dog-bite cases to be treated at Churachandpur district hospital. Elaborating his point that bite by effected dog is 100 per cent fatal, 21 is preventable by getting vaccine, he urged the public not to go to traditional healers or local medicines.
In the meantime, the Chief Medical Officer, Churachandpur district also urged the public to come straight to the district hospital, it they are bitten by dog and advise them to wash the infected area with lot of clean water. And said that vaccine is available free of cost at the district hospital casualty.
