State journalist assured one bag of rice every month

Imphal, September 30: President of the All Manipur Working Journalists’ Union (AMWJU), Wangkhemcha Shyamjai today said that the department of CAF&PD has assured one bag of rice (50 kg) to each members of the union at the cost of rupees 9.30.“This is in addition of the benefit being enjoyed by the media house,” said Wangkhemcha Shyamjai said. All together there are 280 members in the AMWJU and these journalists were often deprived of getting the benefit entitled by the state government.

“With the new initiative it can be now assured that each working journalists will be able to enjoy their share”, said Shyamjai.General Secretary of AMWJU , GA Naocha Sharma said appealed the members to deposit the amount for one bag of rice which comes around rupees 455 (excluding transportation charge) in the coming two/ three days. “At present AMWJU do not have adequate fund to procure the item from the government godown so, all members are requested to deposit their money to the AMWJU”, he said.

Wangkhemcha Shyamjai further appealed the members to join the pension scheme. He said that those journalists who are recognised by the DIPR and are under 45 years of age can join the pension scheme with the payment of the requisite amount. The pension scheme started from 21st March, 1996 and at present 6 journalists are get pension under the scheme.
