Imphal Dec 29: State government has decided to hand over the skull recovery case to Central Investigation Agency like CBI, NIA or CFSL amidst hue and cry for probe into case from both opposition political parties and the civil society organisation of the state.

“Considering the sensitivity, complexity and technical issues involved in the investigation, the state government has decided to hand-over the case to Central Investigation Agency viz, CBI, NIA and CFSL to investigate and found the truth at the earliest”, said a release by N. Ashok Kumar, Secretary to Chief Minister, Manipur.

Even though Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam, who is also in charge of Home had said that it is too early to speculate anything about the recovery of the eight human skulls from the compound of the erstwhile Tombisana High School, several civil society organisation had expressed suspicion to the side of the armed security force.

Rights organisation CORE in a press statement had appealed the government to halt digging of the school compound in view of the development until investigation is completed.

The decision to hand over the case to Central Investigation Agency came a day after BJP state president Th. Chaoba urged for a CBI probe into the incident.

Mention may be made the erstwhile compound of Tombisana High School at the Old Assembly road is being digging out for construction of a new market complex. The place was occupied by CRPF and Manipur Police Commando for quite a long time.
