State celebrates Teachers’ Day

Dy. CM Gaikhangam recalls the importance of teachers

 

Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam today recalled the importance of teaching community saying that teachers are the makers of the future society.Speaking during the state level Teachers’ Day celebration at Bengali High School organised by the state education department, Gaikhangam said that people in the profession often consider to oremain at low profile without recognising their importance in shaping the future of the society.“Those in the teachers’ profession often said their job to be small but in reality they are the people who actually shape the future of a society”, Gaikhangam said. He further appealed the teaching community to guide the student in the right direction.Health Minister Phunjathang Tonsing, Education Minister M Okendro, Social Welfare Minister AK Mirabai, Parliamentary Secretary K Imo, amongst other were present on the occasion.Nine teachers of various government schools were also conferred the state teachers’ award on the occasion.Those teachers who were conferred with the state teachers award are – K Jyenta, L. Nirmala Devi, Laliur Raisun, NS Leishuira, Ng. Prameshori, RK Krishnakuma Singh, S. Binokumari Devi, Th Manglemba Singh and Y. Mirabai.Another three teachers were also conferred the Appreciation Award for the teachers in Higher and technical Education department. They are – Oliver Mongang, Dr. MD. Raheijuddin Sheikh and Pauchunglung Vaiphei.
