State celebrates Teacher’s day

State Government today celebrated Teachers’ Day in commemoration to the birthday of the country’s 2nd President, Dr Radhakrishnan at the MFDC auditorium. The function was organized by the Department of Education (s).
In his speech, the Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh stressed on the importance of education in the development of a nation. Speaking on the poor performance of the government schools in the secondary and the higher secondary examinations he hinted some strict measures against the teachers who never taught the children but enjoying the salary without putting any effort to improve the qualities of the school education. Citing the examples of how private schools flourish in a good academic atmosphere the chief minister opined a war in education to defeat the private schools. He also urged the private schools not to enroll then the maximum number of students in a class to maintain quality education.
Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam in his deliberation as the guest of honour lauded the teacher’s community for producing many good students in medical and engineering sectors as well as making good pubic leaders including politician. Giving important to the role of the teachers as the second parents he remarked teachers as he role model of the students quoting Gandhi’s statement -”My life is my message”.
Throwing balls to the teachers community, the Deputy Chief Minister asked the teachers to be aware of what is happening in the world and teach the students with maximum input of knowledge, citing an example from his village where once a teacher told one of his student that the answer to the question he asked was not learn in his learn in his graduate arts curriculum.
