Thoubal, May 12: Members of Thoubal branch of All Manipur SSA Teachers Association locked the doors of the office of ZEO Zone III as part of the ongoing agitation demanding release of eight months salaries.
There is altogether 215 SSA staff in the district and they are facing the grim pain of not receiving their due salaries for so long, said joint secretary of Thoubal branch of the association K Goutam. He said although talks were carried out with the authorities including the minister the assurances on payment of their pending salaries were never actuated. Today’s activity was planned to protest the administration’s indifference, he said adding that until an agreement is reached on the issue, the office of the ZEO Zone III will be kept closed and the teachers will not resume their duties.
