Traffic Police today conducted a special drive along the western side of Nagamapal Road, from Maharani Thongkha to RIMS Crossing, to clear unauthorised parking, roadside vendors and other obstructions.
The drive was conducted under the supervision of C. Cecelia Sopemla, SP, Traffic Control Police Wing, Manipur, with assistance from City Police Station.
The stretch is an important route for office-goers, commercial establishments and residents, besides providing access to RIMS and other hospitals. Authorities stressed the need to keep the road clear, particularly to facilitate the movement of ambulances and other emergency vehicles.
Traffic Police appealed to the public to park vehicles only at designated parking areas and avoid parking in no-parking zones. Street vendors were also urged not to set up stalls or otherwise obstruct the carriageway.
The department said public cooperation was essential for maintaining smooth traffic movement and keeping emergency routes accessible.
