The Central Bureau of Communication, Field Office Chandel, Ministry of I&B, Government of India organised Special Outreach Programme on “Swachhata Hi Seva” 2025 with the theme of Swachhotsav- Celebrating Cleanliness Together at Keithelmanbi Village in Chandel district today.
Teresa, Sr.Mono William Asst. Chief, Keithelmanbi Village, Sk John Shelwar Local Catechist and Lv.John Kobari Principal, Smart Life Academy was Moderator, Special Guests and resource persons respectively. The welcome address and presentation to the dignitaries was given by Mathew Sk Bengam, FPA, CBC, FO, Chandel. He facilitated the dignitaries and highlighted the purpose and objectives of organizing the Special Outreach programme by CBC which is to eliminate open defecation, construction of toilets, solid waste management and bringing about behavioural change regarding sanitation practice among citizens in every individual, households, communities in the village and in the district.
Sr.Mono William Asst. Chief speaking as Special Guest highlighted the significance of observing the events and urged the participants to keep the habit of cleanliness at home, surrounding and within the village areas and encourage in planting trees as much as they can. As a resources person Lv.John Kobari spoke on the purpose of Swachhata Hi Seva which is to generate mass participation in cleanliness activities through voluntary service to promote visual cleanliness and the welfare of sanitation workers which will ultimately reinforce the goal of a Garbage Free India. He also urges the villagers and participants to step out and take the ownership of their surroundings to create a clean and hygienic India and to fulfill the vision of Mahatma Gandhi.
M/s The Youth Cultural Centre, Imphal a PRT of S&DD also performed cultural items related with the theme of Swachhata Hi Seva 2025 during the Special Outreach Programme. On the spot quiz competition was also organized and prize along with certificates was given to the winners. Cleanliness drive was carried out within the campus and its surrounding areas.
