The proscribed armed group Socialist Revolutionary Party (SOREPA), Kangleipak, has strongly condemned the killing of civilians in a bomb attack at Tronglaobi in Bishnupur district, while also making a series of allegations regarding the ongoing conflict in Manipur.
In a statement issued by its Secretary, Publicity and Organisation, M.C. Yaiphabi, SOREPA stated that the incident occurred on the intervening night of April 6 and 7, 2026, at around 1:30 AM at Tronglaobi Awang Leikai in Moirang. The outfit claimed that unidentified mercenary or narco-terrorist elements carried out the bomb attack, killing two children who were asleep inside their house and leaving their mother seriously injured.
The group further referred to subsequent protests by local residents, during which firing reportedly took place when demonstrators approached a location guarded by central security forces. It alleged that three individuals were killed and five others injured in the firing.
Condemning the incident, SOREPA expressed grief over the loss of innocent lives and conveyed solidarity with the bereaved families. It stated that the incident has triggered widespread anger among the public.
In its statement, the outfit also put forward a series of claims regarding the broader situation in Manipur since May 3, 2023. It alleged that the ongoing violence reflects a larger pattern involving the use of externally supported armed groups in coordination with Indian security forces.
SOREPA further alleged that various indigenous communities, including Tangkhul, Kabui, Thadou, Meitei and others, have been systematically targeted, and that such actions indicate an escalation of violence in the region. It also claimed that the unity and collective strength of the people of Manipur are being undermined through coordinated efforts.
The statement went on to describe what it termed as a “proxy war,” alleging that security forces have been working in coordination with armed groups to weaken the socio-political foundation of Manipur. It further claimed that the imposition of President’s Rule and the deployment of central forces have led to intensified operations, including raids, arrests, and detentions, creating fear among civilians.
Additionally, the outfit alleged that a narrative portraying governance under central authority as stable is being promoted to influence public perception, while suppressing local resistance. It also accused authorities of targeting civil organisations and attempting to create divisions among indigenous communities.
Appealing to the public, SOREPA called for unity among all indigenous groups, stating that collective strength is essential to safeguard their identity, land, and future.
