SoO groups talk with MHA on the present crisis in Manipur

Amidst the demand for abrogation of the Suspension of Operation with the Kuki militants representatives of the armed organizations – the Kuki National Organisation (KNO) and the United People’s Front (UPF) currently engaging in Suspension of Operation today hold talk with the government of India at New Delhi today in connection with the current situation in Manipur.
Source said that the main agenda of the meeting was the ongoing crisis in Manipur. Details of the talks between the representatives of the armed group and the government of India could be known.
KNO and the UPF is a body of 24 armed Kuki rebel groups which have signed Suspension of Agreement (SoO) agreement with the Government of India and the government of Manipur on August 28, 2008.
Ketheos Zomi and Joshua Thadou of the UPF and Dr. Seilen Haokip of the KNO were present during the talk held today with the representatives of the Ministry of Home Affairs at New Delhi. As of now there is no confirmation on whether the representative of the Government of Manipur attended the meeting or not.
Interestingly, the tripartite agreement of SoO between the armed rebel groups (KNO and the UPF) has been extended from March 1, 2023 till February 29, 2024. The extension of the SoO agreement was reportedly signed on February 2, 2023 and it was only known to the public after the document was leaked only yesterday.
