Solid waste treatment Plant at Lamdeng being upgraded

Imphal, May 29:  The Solid Waste Treatment Plant at Lamdeng constructed by the State Government with a project cost of Rs. 4175.00 crore (Rupees forty-one crore and seventy-five lakhs) only will be now upgraded from its present state of “Waste to Compost” to “Waste to Compost & Energy” purely on Public Private Partnership (PPP) mode without any further investment from the State Government.
The State Government has finalized a private agency (Innovative Eco-Care Pvt. Ltd., Ahmadabad) for the operation, upgradation and maintenance of the plant on PPP mode. Imphal has been awarded the “Swachh City Award” for being the “Top Mover in the North East Region” for the year 2016. Imphal is placed at 15th Rank in the City Sanitation Ranking of 75 Indian Cities for the year, 2016.
The MAHUD implemented various other Urban Development schemes like, Construction of Flyover, City Convention Centre, Integrated Housing and Slum Development Programme, BSUP for Imphal City, Three Women Markets, 100 Bedded Hospital, Construction of Shopping Complex and Improvement of Nambul and Naga River Front.
