Social worker Sanjoy re-arrested under NSA after released by court

After remanding in Police custody for 4 days, Lourembam Sanjoy the projected candidate for the upcoming By-Election of Andro AC was produced before Judicial Magistrate 1st Class Imphal East, Kimneingha Kipgen and was released on bail. As soon as Sanjoy was released, a team of Porompat Police Station rearrested him. Sanjoy was detained under Section 25 of Arms Act, 1959 and FIR no 30(5) 2020 APS 188/325/307/34 IPC and the court released him on bail due to lack of evidence of the charges labeled against him. Ch. Bimolchandra, the Defence Counsel of Sanjoy said “Today’s incident was most unfortunate and labeling one or the other charge to arrest him seems like a pre-plan.”
